##Job Summary:
This role will play a pivotal role in advancing CSA Public Policy Centre’s mission by designing and delivering high-impact policy events and engagement initiatives. The position works with the manager on managing and producing the full lifecycle of conferences, workshops, panel discussions, roundtables, and smaller events that mobilize knowledge and foster dialogue among policymakers, researchers, community advocates, and industry leaders. Beyond events, this role works closely with policy leaders, researchers, communications teams, and external partners to identify relevant policy topics, define panel themes and objectives, and target appropriate audiences. This role will:
- Identify and recruit knowledgeable panelists, moderators, and speakers to ensure high-quality discussions.
- Develop discussion points, questions, and visual aids to guide engaging and informative panels.
- Coordinate all event logistics, including schedules, travel arrangements, technical requirements, and on-site or virtual support.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including communications, design, digital, and operations, to manage outreach, promotion, and post-event follow-up.
- Manage multiple events and projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external policy leaders, fostering collaboration and supporting the CSA Public Policy Centre’s strategic objectives.
Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to effectively manage multiple, complex public policy initiatives. The role also requires strong networking skills and the ability to build and manage a wide range of internal and external relationships. By combining strategic planning, event production, and project management capabilities, this position contributes directly to advancing informed public policy dialogue and the CSA Public Policy Centre’s mission to create meaningful impact.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Understanding the Business
- Understands CSA strategies and solutions, as it relates to public policy
- Understands engagement needs that impact different audiences, including specific needs among policymakers, researchers, community advocates, and industry leaders
- Provides support and guidance on engagement activities, to raise awareness, promotion and advocacy of CSA strategies and initiatives.
Working Well with Others
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, industry partners, and community organizations
- Works with various groups of policymakers, researchers, community advocates, and industry leaders to identify engagement needs and opportunities.
- Identify and recruit knowledgeable panelists, moderators, and speakers to ensure high-quality discussions
- Works with both internal and external groups in the planning and designing of public policy conferences, workshops and events.
- Actively engages with policymakers, researchers, community advocates, and industry leaders as part of engagement activities, during policy and government meetings, forums or events.
- In close collaboration with the Marketing and Corporate Communications teams, support promotional efforts for events and engagement activities through email campaigns, social media, and stakeholder networks.
- Coordinates with other internal groups as needed including Legal, Finance, HR and IT.
- Coordinates with other key external contacts as needed, including vendors, contractors, suppliers.
Delivering Results
Plan and Execute Events:
- Collaborate with manager to identify prioritize public policy topics aligned with the Centre’s mandate and strategic objectives.
- Define event and panel themes, objectives, and target audiences to ensure relevance, impact and engagement.
- Design and produce policy-focused events, including panels, roundtables, workshops, and conferences (in-person, virtual, and hybrid).
- Collaborate with manager to identify, recruit, and coordinate panelists, moderators, and speakers, ensuring strong subject-matter expertise and balanced perspectives.
- Develop discussion framework, guiding questions, briefing materials, and visual aids to support effective and engaging conversations.
Provide Project Support:
- Collaborate on public policy research projects and related initiatives by, for example, supporting development of stakeholder strategies and helping facilitate stakeholder input.
Monitor Impact and Budget:
- Track engagement metrics and event outcomes to inform continuous improvement and report on impact to leadership.
- Support continuous improvement of event production processes, tools, and workflows.
- Manage multiple event timelines, budgets and ensure cost-effective delivery while maintaining high-quality experiences for participants.
- Undertake relevant procurement, budgeting and other administrative task as required to fulfill duties.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in an appropriate field (e.g. Business Administration, Community Engagement/Outreach, Marketing, Event Management) or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience in event, and/or project management, ideally in research, government or nonprofit setting
- Customer service experience, including conflict resolution
- Strong planning, organizational and prioritization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels, both internally and externally
- Bilingual in English and French would be an asset
- Ability to challenge the status quo in an effort to drive systemic change and improvements.
- Create and manage event run-of-show documents, agendas, and production timelines.
- Manage all event logistics, including scheduling, travel arrangements, venues, catering, vendors, and technical requirement.
- Monitor risks and resolve issues proactively to ensure smooth execution of events and initiatives.
The typical hiring range for this position is $86,160 - $113,090 CAD gross annually. The actual base pay offered will depend on factors such as education, licenses, certifications and experience. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
