Job Overview Through application of expertise as a professional FP&A Analyst with in-depth and wide-ranging knowledge of financial management systems, programs, and practices: Develops, recommends, and monitors the adherence to financial strategies, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of financial systems and procedures. Provides leadership to management in the specialized area of financial management and resolves implementation and technical issues independently. Provides support to the manager in discharging due diligence through a professional challenge role within the business. Provides advice and guidance to line management through exercising professional and independent financial judgment.
Key Accountabilities Reporting to the Manager of FP&A, the FP&A Analyst will have the following roles and responsibilities:
- Advise and assist P&L leaders regarding work program planning, establishing priorities and resource requirements, developing business plans and budgets, implementation of plans, reporting, etc., and in identifying performance gaps and resolving problems related to the above.
- Responsible for month-end close coordination and financial results reporting for respective line-of-business oversight area.
- Analyze specified areas of cost and schedule performance. Identify performance variances regarding actual versus planned results. Identify significant risks to achieving planned results. Recommend corrective actions to better align planned and actual results. Consult with Department staff and others to determine options. Produce required reports and related information.
- Conduct analysis, business case presentation preparation, and provide input to leadership on business opportunities.
- Participants in establishing project cost and schedule baselines and assist with change control process for scope, cost, and schedule.
- Proactively manage stakeholders to ensure adherence to project control principles, processes, and procedures.
- Ensures adherence to contractual agreements in order to secure profitability, costs and/or effective resource utilization and overall benefits.
- Provide updates on execution of contract results compared to expectations for order backlog, revenues, margins, cash flows by project/customer/business unit.
- Participate in the annual business planning process, periodic forecast updates, and other information for respective area
- Develop work performance reports, indicating status on the scope and schedule, cost and performance information, and concerns to be addressed by the management team.
- Responsible for periodic ad hoc requests from management.
- Identify and address risks and opportunities for areas supported
- Provide guidance on the preparation of client invoicing for portfolio of projects
- As assigned, provide on-the-job training within the Department, specifically on Department-specific procedural aids and develop and maintain a high skill level.
- Lead cashflow forecasting process, engaging with stakeholders to gather and review inputs, present findings to Finance Mgmt.
- Support FP&A Manager with Budget/Forecast consolidations, data integrity validations, and facilitate system uploads (PowerBI and MS Dynamics).
Qualifications We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have the following:
- Good experience interacting and supporting internal and external stakeholders
- Previous experience within FP&A, Project Accounting or Operational Accounting considered an asset.
- Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing organization considered an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar Financial/Management Information Systems considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Previous experience supporting financial modeling for cost estimates considered an asset.
