Fitness Centre Attendant: $18.50 / hour to start, working 10-20 hours/week
Personal Training: $35.10 - $76.05 per hour (depending on education/experience and session type)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (JCC) is a non-profit community centre whose mission is to provide leadership in cultural, recreational, educational and social activities. While we are the centre and heart of the Jewish community, we are open to all and serve the community at large in the Oakridge area of Vancouver.

The JCC offers a fully equipped Fitness Centre and we are currently looking for a Fitness Attendant who would also like to provide Personal Training services. The Fitness Centre Attendant is responsible for ensuring enjoyable experiences for participants and delivering excellence in customer service as well as maintaining a safe and clean environment for all.

The Fitness Centre Attendant role can be supplemented by working as a Personal Trainer.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a friendly and welcoming environment for the Members.
  • Provide customer service, supervision and instruction on how to use fitness equipment.
  • Conduct Adult and Youth Orientations for new Members to the fitness centre providing information on safe equipment use and general fitness centre policies.
  • Ensure that the general rules of conduct of the Fitness Centre are followed.
  • Opening or closing the fitness center at the beginning or end of the day.
  • Daily cleaning tasks to ensure the facility is clean and tidy.
  • Checking, and reporting any equipment that may need repairs to the supervisor.
  • Promote Fitness Challenges and promotional events to members.
  • Communicate with the Fitness Centre team on a regular basis.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.
  • Personal Trainers: conduct one-on-one, partner and small group personal training sessions according to known best practices in personal training; this includes assessment, program design, instruction, tracking & monitoring progress, motivation and an extremely high standard of customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Current Personal Training certification (preferred)
  • Current BCRPA Fitness Theory Certification & Weight Room Certification or equivalent (or willing to obtain within 3 months of start date)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain within 3 months of start date)
  • Ability to safely use and demonstrate how to use fitness equipment and machines.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

AVAILABLE FITNESS CENTRE SHIFTS:

  • Saturdays 1:45pm - 6:00pm
  • Weeknights: 3:00pm - 9:00 pm (Monday or Wednesday)
  • Other shifts may also become available
  • Personal Training: Flexible Schedule

The successful candidate will be required to clear a vulnerable sector criminal record check
