About the role

This competition is to fill a full time, permanent position, working 75 hours biweekly.

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology & Support Services (ITSS), the IT Support Technician provides departmental computer systems administration and support to Yukon school computer laboratories, classrooms, school offices and other Yukon Education offices. This position works with Apple and Windows based computers and related peripheral equipment, ensuring minimal disruption of service. It assists in the administration of the hardware maintenance and monitoring contractor performance and client satisfaction and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education and/or coursework in computer science or related field

  • Experience setting up, configuring, and diagnosing computer hardware and software

  • Experience providing level one service desk support, including but not limited to: prioritizing tickets, liaising with users/clients for information, diagnosing problems, and documenting resolutions

  • Experience providing IT support in an education setting is an asset

  • Experience creating user facing and internal documentation, including policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines is an asset

Additional information
Conditions of Employment:

  • Security Clearance, Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Job Requirements:

  • This position works onsite in an office environment

  • This position is required to travel and visit schools within Whitehorse and the communities

  • The work requires some bending and lifting of weights up to 35 pounds and includes potential exposure to electrical shock, dust and dirt
