Posting Period: March 16, 2026 - March 22, 2026 The Director, Inpatient Mental Health and Forensics is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of the strategic vision, planning, and mission focused program leadership required to achieve operating goals for the assigned program. The Director of Inpatient Mental Health and Forensics is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction ensuring high-quality, best practice, patient-centered services that align with organizational goals and values. The individual determines the need for and priority of allocation of human, material, and financial resources to support the growth and expansion of these services and promote an integrated program that achieves the strategic and operational objectives and aligns with Providence Care’s Mission, Vision and Values.
Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree in a health-related profession; a combination of formal education, development and work experience may be considered
- Current unrestricted registration with an applicable regulatory college
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in health care management with at least three (3) years in hospital-based clinical operations management
- Experience at a Director level, preferred
- Experience managing mental health and/or forensic inpatient, outpatient and community programs an asset
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Promotes excellence in person-centred care and encourages the ongoing review of programs and services against evidence-based practices
- Provides leadership and develops program goals and objectives for the delivery, planning and evaluation of programs in collaboration with community partners, Directors and Managers, Clinical Directors, staff, and physicians
- Models Mission leadership and inspires and leads directors, managers, and staff to achieve Program goals and objectives by articulating, demonstrating, and incorporating the values, principles, and mission of the organization across all areas of responsibility
- Provides direction, leadership, coaching, and advice to team members to ensure that individual skills, knowledge/competence are fully utilized to meet program goals and service needs; ensures that orientation, education, and training are provided; evaluates team performance and provides appropriate resources and interventions for team building and conflict resolution
- Collaborates and maintains effective communications with inter-site and corporate support services to ensure a clear and shared understanding regarding their role and service standards to maximize administrative efficiencies
