Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.
The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

ELECTRICAL SPECIALIST (PROJECT) The Projects Electrical Specialist works alongside the Projects Senior Supervisor overseeing electrical construction/installations, preventative maintenance, and optimizing the electrical systems and equipment within the Cote Gold site. The Electrical Specialist ensures the smooth installation/operation of critical electrical infrastructure, including substations, transformers, power distribution systems, and automation equipment. The specialist plays a key role in construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance to maximize efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Area 1:
Execution
- A good understanding of 13.8KV and 600V systems
- A good background in instrumentation and PLC logic (programming considered an asset)
- Support the installation and commissioning of new electrical/instrumentation systems, ensuring integration with existing infrastructure.
- VLF cable testing considered an asset.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical equipment, including substations, transformers, and control panels to ensure operational reliability.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults within the infrastructure power systems, ensuring timely restoration of functionality.
- Identify opportunities to optimize electrical systems, including power efficiency and equipment performance within the site infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment to reduce unexpected breakdowns and extend the lifespan of critical systems.
Area 2 Lead others in a collaborative environment to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities.
- Seek and implement best-in-class practices.
- Propose new methods to meet challenges of process control engineering.
- Identify training and development opportunities for the team.
- Keep abreast of trends in process control engineering and impart to Côté Gold.
- Provide new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
- Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills.
- Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improve mining processes, technologies and methodologies.
Area 3 Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow-up.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Job Qualifications Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications Or Equivalents
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field or a related field.
- Certificate of Qualification in Ontario or Red Seal.
Work experience - Nature & Length
- A minimum of 5 years of related work experienced.
Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems used in mining and industrial processes.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience with automation systems and control technology, including PLCs and SCADA.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
