Our Client is a Formwork and Mass Timber contractor that does a lot of different types of projects ranging from structural concrete seismic upgrades to full on mass timber buildings.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Special Projects Lead Carpenter to oversee, coordinate, and perform a variety of construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in construction, formwork carpentry, mass timber, and related trades. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent organizational skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards. This position offers an opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead diverse construction projects while utilizing their broad skill set across multiple trades. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality results through expert project management and technical proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage special construction projects Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to develop project plans Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely procurement of materials such as rebar, concrete forms, hand tools, power tools, and other construction supplies Oversee the use of, and use hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment during project execution Supervise on-site activities Manage project schedules and coordinate tasks among team members to optimize productivity Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes and regulations Provide technical guidance on complex tasks such as rebar installation, framing, and forming Perform or oversee heavy lifting operations safely during material handling or structural modifications Maintain detailed documentation of project progress and communicate updates to stakeholders
Requirements
Proven experience in construction management or a similar role with a strong background in formwork carpentry, framing and mass timber Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment handling Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with excellent organizational skills Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt plans as needed during project execution
