KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager, Asset ManagementGIS, the System Analyst provides complex project and technical support for the City's Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) and Asset Management technology infrastructure. Spatial data support responsibilities include developing and maintaining the GIS databases, GIS application initiatives, mapping websites, and integration of spatial data across all facets of the City. This position works closely with the Geomatics Officer and Asset Management Coordinator to provide a high caliber of customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A university degree or technology diploma in a relevant discipline (i.e., geography, GIS, environmental science, software or geomatics engineering) is required, along with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Enterprise Asset Management and GIS software systems and applications. Experience in enterprise systems project management is also required.
The incumbent must have an advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL database design, and Enterprise EAM and GIS Architecture. The ability to use critical thinking to evaluate problems, gather information, understand causes, and identify best possible solutions is required.
SALARY:
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $120,025 and a comprehensive benefits package, including a monthly vacation travel and housing allowance – totaling $450 per month, a defined benefit pension plan, and relocation assistance.

Originally founded in 1953, the City of Yellowknife serves over 19,000 residents in the territories largest city. City Employees provide a complete range of municipal services, including; roads, water & sewer, garbage & recycling, parks & recreation, fire & ambulance, planning & development in some of the harshest weather conditions in North America.

Frame Lake is used as a skating rink in winter and a frozen walking/snowmobile path to residential communities. In summer the area (Somba K'e Civic Plaza) is used for the Farmer's Market, live music and festivals. There is a public walking trail surrounding the lake, close enough to be used over lunches and breaks.
City Hall is located in downtown and is a short walk from the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, numerous restaurants and stores, and the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool.
Like all of Yellowknife, City Hall is distinctively both surrounded by the hauntingly beautiful characteristics of sub-Arctic nature (Aurora borealis, the Midnight Sun, and sun dogs), but close to urban amenities.
