About the role
Sub1313 Development a division of Canco Petroleum is seeking a hands-on Site Lead / Construction Foreman to oversee daily field operations while actively participating in construction, installation, service, and maintenance activities.
This position is ideal for an experienced construction professional who enjoys both working in the field and leading others. The Site Lead will coordinate subcontractors, perform site work, support petroleum and retail projects, manage deficiencies, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary field representative for smaller projects and support larger projects under the direction of the Project Manager or Construction Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SITE OPERATIONS
- Lead day-to-day activities on construction sites.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure work is completed according to project requirements.
- Monitor site productivity and progress.
- Assist with project scheduling and site logistics.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.
- Communicate site issues and project updates to management.
HANDS-ON CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
- Perform construction and renovation work when required.
- Assist with equipment installations.
- Complete site modifications and improvements.
- Perform demolition and preparation work.
- Assist with fixture, millwork, and equipment installations.
- Support fuel system and petroleum-related projects.
- Support car wash equipment installations.
- Complete project deficiencies and punch-list items.
PETROLEUM & SERVICE SUPPORT
- Support petroleum equipment installations and upgrades.
- Coordinate service contractors and suppliers.
- Assist with dealer support and troubleshooting.
SITE SAFETY
- Promote and enforce company safety standards.
- Conduct daily safety reviews.
- Identify and report hazards.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety requirements.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
QUALITY CONTROL
- Ensure work meets company and client expectations.
- Conduct regular quality inspections.
- Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
- Verify completion of subcontractor work.
- Support project closeout activities.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
- Coordinate delivery of materials and equipment.
- Track inventory and site requirements.
- Maintain company tools and equipment.
- Ensure materials are properly stored and protected.
- Assist with procurement planning and field requirements.
DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
- Maintain daily site reports.
- Document project progress.
- Track labour and equipment usage.
- Report delays, risks, and site concerns.
- Submit photos and progress updates.
- Assist with project documentation and closeout records.
CLIENT & STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS
- Represent Sub1313 professionally on-site.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, dealers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Assist with customer concerns and inquiries.
- Support project meetings when required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Minimum 3–7 years of construction, renovation, service, or installation experience.
- Strong understanding of construction practices and job site operations.
- Experience leading crews or coordinating subcontractors.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel throughout Canada.
PREFERRED
- Experience with petroleum construction projects.
- Experience with convenience store renovations.
- Experience with car wash equipment installations.
- First Aid Certification.
- WHMIS, CSTS, and safety certifications.
- Basic electrical, mechanical, or plumbing experience.
