Hours of Work : Bi-weekly rotating 12-Hour continental schedule, 8 - 8
Location: 807 Pharmacy Ave, Scarborough, ON M1L 3K2
Salary range: $48.78/hour
Job Summary The Millwright will focus on conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, fabrication and welding in the maintenance department. Emphasis will be put on ensuring machines and equipment are well maintained to facilitate production requirements and machine manufacturer’s specifications.
Principle Accountabilities
- Plan and layout work assignments from complex blueprints, sketches or verbal instruction and accomplish these assignments with the maximum efficiency.
- Operate mobile material handling equipment to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up and repair or machinery.
- Inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing plant machinery, equipment, systems, building and physical structures.
- Competently and safely use all tools and welding equipment to assemble machinery and operate all machine tools such as lathes and grinders for the efficient overhaul, maintenance or set-up of company property.
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs, keep accurate maintenance records and know and keep familiar all national, provincial and local codes as they affect repair, maintenance, safety, construction and dismantling of machinery, equipment and structures.
- Work with other classifications of employees in emergency situations, plant shut down periods, and in times when machinery is not operating to perform all vital activities to get equipment and machinery back into operation in minimum time.
- Responsible for ensuring at all times, that the employee will maintain as a result of their own work, hood housekeeping as per the standard and for ensuring the they conduct themselves in a safe and orderly way as per the company polices and safe work practices.
- Participate in SMP initiatives, conduct routine SMP Preventative Maintenance checks and support 5S program and new Energy Conservation Initiative..
- Ensure all chemicals are disposed of in the appropriated manner as outlined on labels.
- Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Must have current certification of an Ontario Provincial (433A) or an Inter-provincial (Red Seal) Trade Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
- Must have experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with plastics (PVC) extrusion and/or injection molding is a strong asset
- High degree of mechanical aptitude and proficient in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, welding and fabrication.
- Must be self-motivated to work independently under minimal direction and have good written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible to work on-call when required
- Must have your own basic tools

Working conditions Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of moderate physical labor. Lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects (50-100lbs), standing and walking cover the majority of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades and presses. Considerable amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow, bring considerable stresses to this position.
