About the role

The Supervisor Automation role offers the opportunity to oversee all PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and automation systems across the Red Lake Operations, both underground and on surface. You will be responsible for maintaining communication networks, control systems, and instrumentation infrastructure while driving continuous improvement and supporting our automation strategy.

The roster will be 5 days on / 2 days off and 4 days on / 3 days off (9.5 hours).

We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $ 136,633 to $173,000 CAD.

Key result areas will include: Supervise and coordinate daily activities of automation, instrumentation, and control system personnel.

Serve as the primary technical authority for PLC, HMI, DCS, SCADA, network and instrumentation systems across the site.

Lead programming, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLCs (Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, Modicon) and HMI/SCADA/DCS platforms (Foxboro, Wonderware, ION).

Oversee the integrity, reliability, and performance of communication networks, including fiber optics, leaky feeder, IP networks, serial bus and wireless systems.

Manage software applications, including updates, backups, documentation, and version control.

Support and guide instrumentation personnel in diagnosing and resolving issues with instrumentation and control systems.

Coordinate maintenance and optimization of the Energy Management System, Historian and reporting servers and other site-wide automation initiatives.

Ensure accurate and timely updates to AutoCAD drawings, schematics, and databases for all automation and electrical projects

Plan, execute, and oversee automation and instrumentation projects, ensuring alignment with operational goals.

Collaborate with the Ventilation, Mill, Underground, and Electrical departments to integrate automation solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.

Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.

Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures

Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

As a Supervisor Automation, you will have a successful completion of a post-secondary institution in an instrumentation or electrical program or have acquired qualifications of the electrical trade by progressively advancing through an apprenticeship program in order to become certified.

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate: Minimum 2 years as an Instrumentation Technician or Electrician with strong automation experience; supervisory experience is an asset.

Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, and distributed control system (DCS) programming.

Strong working knowledge of SCADA graphics development, database management, IIoT, IP networking and cybersecurity.

Experience with Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, and Modicon PLC platforms.

Exposure to mining automation technologies, including tele-remote systems, AGS, VFDs, ventilation controls, free-mill and refractory milling processes and leaky feeder networks.

Sound knowledge of Foxboro, Wonderware, and ION software.

Hands-On Experience with Allen Bradley, Ge Fanuc, and Modicon PLCs in multiple programming languages (LD, FBD, SFC, ST, IL).

Local, Manual, Hardwired and Auto controls.

MCCs, VFDs, Softstarters and FVNR starter schematics.

Wifi, fibre optic, Ethernet, radio, mesh telemetry and IioT systems.

Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, SDI-12, serial and proprietary communications protocols.

Tele-Remote and AGS (automatic Guidance Systems).

Leaky Feeder Network and interface to Radio Systems at Surface.

Ability to create and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Sound computer skills with proficiency in AutoCAD.

Ability to interface with a multi-disciplined team.

Strong attention to detail.
