About the role

The Senior Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading complex technology and software development initiatives from initiation through delivery.

This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional project management skills, and proven experience managing the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), preferably within a Microsoft Azure environment.

This is a hybrid role requiring the successful candidate to work a minimum of two (2) days per week from our downtown Toronto office and/or client office, subject to change based on business and client needs.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of technical and software development projects across the full SDLC
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables
  • Own project risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure successful delivery of software solutions, preferably in Azure environments
  • Lead stakeholder communication, governance, and executive-level status reporting
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, following agreed delivery methodologies

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in project management, including senior-level ownership of technical or software development projects
  • Proven experience managing projects across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based solutions, with experience managing Azure-based projects strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with risk management, budget management, and stakeholder communication
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting
  • Experience working in client-facing or consulting environments is an asset

Preferred skills

  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)

  • Agile or Scrum certification (CSM, SAFe, or equivalent)

  • Experience working with cross-functional, geographically distributed teams

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern application architectures

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
