Job Description
At aKin, our cooks demonstrate an inspired commitment to culinary excellence in all of their work. Their passion for food and dedication to delivering outstanding dishes are at the heart of what we do. Cleanliness and precision are paramount, and our cooks take pride in meeting guest expectations with every plate.
The Day to Day:
- Execute tasks as directed by the Sous Chef, Chef, and/or General Manager
- Prepare food daily for the tasting menu in accordance with aKin’s Michelin-level standards
- Follow detailed recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications set by the restaurant
- Maintain an organized prep list of station duties
- Use the FIFO method to ensure maximum freshness
- Assist in food inventory management and control
- Receive and store delivered items properly
- Maintain cleanliness in food prep areas, equipment, and utensils, adhering strictly to sanitation, food safety, and hygiene guidelines
- Adhere to WHMIS and MSDS guidelines
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as required or assigned
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of cooking experience in a high-paced, fine dining environment
- A culinary diploma/degree is an asset
- Basic understanding of professional cooking techniques and knife handling skills
- Ability to take direction and work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Food Handlers Certificate
