Position Summary :

Reporting to the Manager , Systems and Technical Services, the Systems Analyst is responsible to plan and manage a variety of projects, technical support for the WRHN Server and infrastructure environments as well as planning, analysis and design work to ensure the efficient sharing of information between clinical and corporate systems. Other responsibilities include providing support to operations through active engagement of clinical, business and project stakeholders and utilization of change and project management principles to achieve stable and reliable infrastructure platforms.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

VMware & Virtualization Support

    • Build, maintain, and monitor virtual machines and templates using VMware.
    • Administer virtual environments including performance tuning, resource allocation, and capacity planning.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization platforms.
  • Server Infrastructure Management
    • Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers.
    • Monitor server performance, logs, diagnostics, and conduct capacity planning.
    • Perform patch management, firmware updates, and system hardening.
    • Support SAN systems and enterprise storage solutions.
  • Backup & Recovery
    • Administer backup and recovery systems using tools like Veeam, Wasabi, and Windows Backup.
    • Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backup testing and disaster recovery planning.
  • Security & Compliance
    • Monitor and manage IT security systems including firewalls, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection.
    • Conduct system audits and risk assessments; implement corrective actions for vulnerabilities.
    • Maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory security policies.
  • System Design & Implementation
    • Analyze, design, and implement new infrastructure solutions.
    • Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle replacements.
    • Document workflows, procedures, and infrastructure configurations.
  • Technical Support & Collaboration
    • Provide tiered support for infrastructure and application issues.
    • Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure efficient system operations.
    • Train staff on new technologies and maintain documentation for knowledge sharing.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Work collaboratively with technical teams in the design of technical architectures of integration solutions for WRHN and partner hospitals.
    • Identify and troubleshoot technical problems.
    • Solve computer problems, test cost-effective solutions, and provide support to ensure efficient daily operation of the organization's network and computer systems.
    • Work with users to identify system requirements; develop processing procedures and systems modifications to meet these specifications.
    • Develop and maintain systems documentation and procedures.
    • Ensure system integrity, performance, security, and availability including disaster recovery.
    • Contribute to risk analysis, prioritization, and mitigation strategies.
    • Participate in RFP / RFQ procurement processes.
    • Maintain and support security of integration solutions ensuring that all data is transmitted in a secure manner that complies with ministry requirements.
    • Coordinate vendor activities related to system maintenance and installations.
    • Work collaboratively with Information Services technical and clinical analysts.
    • Support quality improvement processes by identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting all quality improvement activities.
  • Position Requirements:
  • University Degree in a computer related field or 2 year College Diploma in a computer related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum five years relevant work experience.
  • Experience with the distribution of confidential data over a secure connection such as an encrypted VPN connection.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
  • Experience with Linux or Unix is an asset.
  • Healthcare experience considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently without intensive oversight
  • Strong oral and written communication skills ·
  • Emphasis on sharing of knowledge through good communications and written documentation
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Good attendance record
