As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Education Service Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations professionals.

Click here for a detailed look at the position description. What You’ll Do You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in a non-partisan support role.
  • Exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

  • Greet visitors on arrival, provide general information about entry procedures and manage any questions or concerns guests may have.
  • Provide guests with sound knowledge of all visitor programs and activities taking place in the Legislative Building.
  • Greet and welcome visitors to Ontario’s Parliament, inside and outside of the building.
  • Conduct onsite and virtual interpretive tours of the Legislative Building, focusing on the history and heritage of Ontario and its parliament, while providing a better understanding of the role and function of Parliament.
  • Support the delivery of special events and programs as assigned.
  • Staff the coat check area, as required, and support the daily operation of the Legislative Assembly Gift Shop, as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, ensuring good two-way communication at all times.
  • Provide a high level of customer service in person and over the phone to all clients and stakeholders.

How You Qualify You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • Fluency in oral and written English; proficiency in French and other languages will be beneficial when communicating with our diverse clientele.
  • Completion of some post-secondary education or training, equivalent to 1-year college, is considered an asset.
  • 2-5 years of previous customer service experience, exercising tact and diplomacy.
  • Experience in public speaking and working with a variety of audiences that will give you the confidence to adapt and meet the specific needs of each group visiting Ontario’s Parliament.
  • Ability to provide a positive and memorable visitor experience and a high standard of service to all clients; effective communicator with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility as a team player, and ability to foster good working relationships with your colleagues as a positive contributor.
  • Ability to work onsite (both outside and inside of the building), as well as a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Note: An annual clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) will be required as a condition of employment for this position. The selected candidate will be required to provide a current clear VSC. Hours of Work : This is a variable hour on-call position in which you will support the Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations Branch, including to cover employee absences and vacation, weekend tour support, special events and programs as needed. You will be required to provide your availability for on-call shifts on a monthly basis, including regular weekend availability.
