Group Division:

AEP Cambridge North is a Canadian owned and operated metal manufacturing company, specializing in prototyping and custom projects. At AEP Cambridge North we use the latest in cutting edge technology to provide clients with machining, fabricating, welding and design support. In business since 1991, we run medium to small production projects in our air-conditioned facility that is conveniently located in Cambridge.

Working Hours: (Day shift: 6:30 am – 3:00 pm Monday to Friday and Afternoon shift: 4:00pm - 2:30am Monday to Thursday)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, interpret, and process work orders and part drawings.
  • Set up & operate waterjet &/or laser cutting system.
  • Safely load & unload material from waterjet &/or laser table.
  • Safely move and handle large, heavy metal sheets, plates, and parts using proper equipment, including overhead crane, lifting devices, and forklift.
  • Cleaning, deburring, finishing & packaging of finished goods.
  • Operation of support equipment for drilling, tapping, tumbling, etc. as required for parts finishing.
  • Perform first-off and in-process inspections of all parts produced
  • Complete work order signoffs, and update material inventory and maintain traceability.
  • Identify material types, grades, and finishes.
  • Troubleshoot & correct errors, faults, or other conditions resulting in machine downtime
  • Maintain machinery, shop, and work areas in a clean, safe and organized manner.
  • Responsible for overall safety, cleanliness & operational efficiency of the equipment.
  • Identify & implement support equipment and technology solutions to streamline manufacturing operations & increase operational efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Comply with internal quality checks.
  • Understand mechanics of the equipment including high-pressured water system, pumps, and motors.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent – desired
  • Two years experience in waterjet &/or laser set-up/operation – preferred
  • Experience with other sheet metal and plate fabrication – preferred

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge in profile cutting and manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Possesses a variety of common measuring tools such as but not limited to a tape measure, caliper, and micrometers
  • Knows hand tools and is capable of operating a variety of forklifts, cranes and lifting devices
  • Ability to interpret and follow an extensive variety of instructions and work orders, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a team or group environment with one common goal
  • Ability to work independently with limited instruction
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills

Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:

  • Flow Mach 500 Waterjet / Ermak Fibermak Momentum Gen-3

Physical Demands:

  • Physical Effort: Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs, frequently life and move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs..
  • Physical Environment: Plant environment includes exposure to temperature changes, noise, and smoke.
  • Sensory Attention: High attention to safety at all times.
