Job Code: 19002 Status : Temporary Part Time (up to 6 months)

Location : Providence Care Hospital

Union : OPSEU 4104 Service Clerical

Wage : $27.51-$29.35/hr

Posting Period: August 27, 2025 - September 5, 2025 The Buyer is responsible to proactively provide procurement of supplies, services and capital equipment as required/requested by end user client groups in a manner that is client focused and consistent with the goals and objectives of the Materiel Management and Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) departments and of Providence Care. The Buyer is the day to day liaison between Providence Care and MMC for procurement related issues and will collaborate with MMC Strategic Sourcing and procurement team to assist in cost containment, product standardization, vendor consolidation and other supply chain management strategies that maximize value while ensuring that qualitative standards are maintained

Skills And Qualifications Required

  • Post secondary education in related field
  • Three to five years recent related experience in a computerized purchasing environment, preferably within healthcare
  • Successful completion of PMAC “Principles of Buying” course, or equivalent course completion in Supply Chain Management with a focus on procurement principles

Position Responsibilities

  • Provides procurement assistance to inquiring staff of inventory and/or non-stock items and services, i.e. assists in sourcing/researching supplies by ascertaining/developing precise specifications
  • Prepares request for quotes/information, bid comparisons, vendor recommendations, and cost comparisons (price, shipping charges, tax status, delivery date, etc) where required
  • Co-ordinates received purchase requisitions as per established MMC policies and procedures ensuring appropriate completeness of documentation and specifications before proceeding with purchasing process; investigates invoice discrepancies and performs variances as required
  • Ensures participation and collaboration in all available contracts (i.e. MMC Regional contracts, HealthPRO, St. Joe’s Capital group, etc.) utilizing electronic tools where required, such as HealthPRO Connect and GHX Contract Centre
  • Researches product needs of client departments by gathering usage estimates, costing and other utilization data
  • Coordinates product trials/evaluation
