Summary The Network Operational Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of McKesson’s enterprise network. This role leads operational efforts across internal teams and external partners, including MSPs, vendors, and cloud providers, and serves as the Major Incident Manager for network-related outages.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all aspects of Network Operations including maintenance, uptime, resilience, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate routine and non-routine maintenance activities with MSPs.
  • Partner with IT operations, engineering, delivery, and security teams to support digital transformation.
  • Act as Major Incident Manager (MIM) for network-related incidents, driving resolution and service recovery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize network operations.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) for network-related changes.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for capacity, performance, and availability.
  • Initiate corrective actions to maintain operational stability.
  • Manage the operational budget for network maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain operational documentation including SOPs and manuals.
  • Facilitate Post-Incident Review (PIR) meetings and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
  • Develop operational playbooks to improve incident detection, triage, and resolution.
  • Promote best practices and standardization across the enterprise.
  • Provide leadership and direction to functional teams, setting goals and performance expectations.

What You Bring

  • Deep expertise in LAN/WAN operations and Tier 3 network support.
  • Strong leadership and incident management capabilities.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple vendors in an outsourced IT environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP), routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF), and technologies like SD-WAN, VRF, VLANs.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Less years required if holding a relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualification.

Preferable Skills & Experience

  • Cisco CCIE certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing and managing operational budgets.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking and hybrid environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving enterprise-wide initiatives.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position $113,500 - $189,100
