About the role

Reporting to the VP Employee Experience, the Instructional Designer designs and delivers training programs that support our internal workforce. This position collaborates closely with members of the talent and culture team and other key internal stakeholders to assess learning needs, recommend, create and deliver effective, engaging, and scalable learning solutions that drive employee performance towards achieving organizational goals. The Instructional Designer creates and arranges training on systems, compliance, policies, processes, leadership and other soft skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Applies instructional design principles to develop and deliver cohesive and effective courses, both instructor-led and web-based, with measurable outcomes
  • Creates training content, resources, job aids, learning assessments, surveys and other collateral to reinforce the training experience
  • Manages all phases of the development of courses, ensuring timelines are met
  • Works with stakeholders to create, review, and revise training content and materials. Responsible for training content that supports identified competencies
  • Collaborates with the Talent and Culture team, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure content and delivery align with business goals and learner needs
  • Identifies opportunities and activities to promote knowledge and skills transfer before, during and after the learning initiative
  • Facilitates instructor-led and web-based training sessions, ensuring content delivery is clear, interactive, and aligned with learner needs
  • Creates and conducts ‘train the trainer’ sessions, ensuring that the trainers are well versed on the training objectives, content, and delivery schedule
  • Supports People Leaders in the delivery of talent and culture training content
  • Organizes and coordinates training schedules including creating, distributing and managing the training invitations as well as organizing training rooms and snacks
  • Monitors, tracks, and produces reports on training completion rates
  • Leverages feedback, training data, and insights to evaluate program impact and refine content
  • Manages the Learning Management System for all new hire onboardings. Troubleshoots employee issues and provides solutions
  • Responsible for the timely execution of cyclical compliance training through the Learning Management System
  • Reviews and updates the training content to ensure relevance, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with current business practices
  • Manages multiple learning projects with excellence in execution, meeting deadlines while upholding an engaging learner experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in instructional design or training development roles, preferably in a professional services environment
  • 2 years project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Human Resources, related field or equivalent experience
  • 14PL certification is preferred– Certified Training and Development professional (CTDP)
  • Experience working with LMS (Learning Management Systems)
  • Experience with Articulate 360, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Applied understanding of the principles of instructional design and adult learning
  • Excellent written communication skills with an ability to write effective instructional text
  • Engaging and professional presentation and facilitation skills
  • Self starter, flexible, and proven ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate and manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced working environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Adept at relationship building and open to feedback
  • Knowledge of talent trends, emerging learning technologies, and advanced thinking around development solutions to accelerate talent and organizational effectiveness
  • Role requires written and oral fluency in English. Fluency in French is an asset

Nice to Haves:

  • Knowledge of and experience with AI (Artificial Intelligence) applied to the design and development of learning initiatives
  • Graphic design experience (eg. Canva)
  • Change management certification is an asset
  • PMP designation an asset
