Marketplace Manager (Amazon), E-Commerce
About the role
Our client, a Canadian-owned and operated wholesale food service company, is seeking a Marketplace Manager to build and scale third-party marketplace channels (including Amazon) into profitable growth engines during a period of substantial expansion. Reporting to the Manager of E-Commerce, the Marketplace Manager will own end-to-end performance of all marketplace channels, including assortment strategy, content optimization, advertising, pricing, and operational execution to drive revenue growth while maintaining strong contribution margins.
Key Responsibilities
Marketplace Ownership Own end-to-end marketplace performance across all marketplaces, with a primary focus on Amazon Ensure curated, margin-focused assortment aligned with overall channel strategy Actively manage day-to-day marketplace operations including, managing listings, catalogs, pricing logic, content accuracy, and inventory availability Develop long-term channel-specific growth roadmaps balancing revenue targets with profitability
Profitability, Growth & Margin Management Drive marketplace growth aligned with annual revenue and EBITDA targets while protecting contribution margins Demonstrate exceptional understanding of Amazon FBA vs. FBM economics: deeply analyze fulfillment fees, unit economics, return rates, chargebacks, damaged goods, storage costs, and true profitability per SKU Monitor and control fees, commissions, charge-backs, returns, marketing expenses, and cost leakage Execute contract pricing, volume discounts, and customer-specific pricing where applicable
Initiatives & Optimization Launch and execute marketplace growth initiatives (assortment strategy, pricing tests, advertising programs, new marketplaces) Own marketplace advertising strategy, budgets, and ROI Continuously test, measure, and optimize conversion, repeat purchase, and account penetration Identify market trends, competitive threats, and growth opportunities
Execution & Coordination Work closely with Customer Service and Fulfillment teams to ensure SLAs are met, exceptions are resolved quickly, and operational feedback informs marketplace strategy Partner with offshore marketing operations team responsible for day-to-day marketplace management, inventory updates, listing optimization, customer inquiries, and administrative tasks Coordinate with supply chain, e-commerce ops, and finance teams Provide clear, data-driven performance insights and strategic recommendations to leadership monthly and quarterly
What the Client is Looking For 1-3 years of e-commerce experience managing marketplace channels (Amazon preferred). Hands-on expertise with Amazon Seller Central and/or Vendor Central, including product catalog management, listing optimization, FBA operations, advertising (PPC), promotions, and account health management. Proven track record achieving revenue and profitability targets through marketplace channel growth, with demonstrated ability to manage advertising budgets and achieve ROAS targets. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in marketplace analytics tools, Excel/Google Sheets, and data analysis to monitor KPIs, identify trends, and generate actionable insights. Experience with content creation and optimization and SEO best practices for marketplaces. Understanding of marketplace economics including fees, commissions, advertising costs, fulfillment costs, and contribution margin analysis. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and process-driven with strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset, bias for action, and passion for testing, learning, and continuous improvement.
Work Environment, Compensation & Benefits Type of Role: Full-time permanent (40 hours) Work Environment: On-site, at Mississauga Head Office (Hwy 401 & Hwy 403) Salary Range: Approx. $70,000 - $80,000 + 10-25% bonus
