The Opportunity

# of positions: 2
Salary range: $93,306.00 - $97,053.00. Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.
Paid leave: 43 days vacation per year

The School of Construction is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Temporary Full-Time Instructors to join our team in the Pipetrades Apprenticeship and Pre-Employment Pipetrades programs. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering both theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory training to students preparing for careers in the Pipetrades.
We are looking for individuals with in-depth knowledge of Pipetrades theory, applicable codes, and current residential, commercial & Industrial trade practices. As an Instructor, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of skilled tradespeople. We value innovation and encourage our instructors to be bold, inventive, and bring fresh ideas to enhance the learning experience.
Note: SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
How you'll contribute
- Prepare for classes prior to delivery
- Deliver instruction using existing curriculum resources through D2L and other educational tools, employing diverse teaching strategies to enhance student learning and support personal growth
- Evaluate student progress and achievement
- Attend all SAIT training as required
- Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives
- Provide accurate and up to date reporting of student marks
- Be an active and engaged team member of the School
- Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
- Maintain and develop relationships with academic colleagues and industry partners
- Attend team meetings, participate in program planning and quality improvement processes and implement recommendations
- Promote and support SAIT’s and Health and Public Safety’s goals and mission statements
- All other duties as required for the position as determined by leadership
What you bring
- Minimum Alberta Journeyperson Certificate and Red Seal in one of Plumber, Steamfitter or Gasfitting trades.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Journeyperson in a variety of installation and service environments is desired
- Prior teaching or training experience in adult education is an asset
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Basic level of Proficiency working in Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
- Comfortable speaking to the public
- Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in a consultative decision-making process
- Commitment to ethical behavior
