Daily activities:

Architect enterprise data models (logical, physical, canonical) Design and govern lakehouse architectures leveraging Databricks Unity Catalog, and open table formats. Define ingestion, transformation, and publication patterns for multi-country data pipelines (landing → standardization → consumption). Collaborate with domain teams to implement data mesh principles, ensuring federated ownership and standardized governance. Lead metadata and catalog strategy across Unity Catalog, and enterprise data governance tools. Review and approve data models, schemas, and data product designs submitted by engineering teams. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (PII, GDPR, local IB regulations) and secure architecture standards. Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into domain-aligned data structures and reusable data products. Monitor platform performance and data quality, recommending improvements to ingestion, lineage, and governance workflows. Champion best practices for MDM, lineage, metadata, and data quality across IB. Support tactical delivery by designing quick, local-source-connected solutions when needed, without compromising long-term architecture integrity.

Must Have Skills: 8+ years of experience required on data architecture (order matters): Databricks Unity Catalog expert and Azure. Experience designing enterprise data architecture using modern Lakehouse, data lake, and warehouse patterns. Experience working with metadata management and catalogs. Proficient in designing logica, physical, and canonical data models aligned with business domains. Hands-on experience in defining and implementing data mesh principles across multiple domains

Technical Proficiency in: Knowledge in Python. Knowledge Open Format Table expert (Delta lake or Iceberg or Hudi). Knowledge Spark y/o Flink . Knowledge GCP Dataplex .

Nice-To-Have Skills: Proven expertise in dimensional modeling (Star and Snowflake schema). Strong knowledge of master data management MDM, data lineage and data governance best practices. Knowledge of data privacy regulations and secure data architecture design. In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Data Vault 2.0 modeling. Scotiabank experience (Digital Factory). Event streaming architecture.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
• A Master’s degree is considered an asset. Azure / GCP cloud professional data architect certification.
