About the role

The Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day operational accounting activities and month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions for select operational units of the Company. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of financial information in the general ledger.

The Accountant supports the accounting team management with implementation of standardized processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and controls and procedure documentation with a shared services mindset.

The Accountant will:

  • Support senior accountants in carrying out full-cycle accounting and month-end close activities for select operational units of the Company, enabling timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare transactional batches, journal entries, and completes account reconciliations and accruals for senior accountants’ review.
  • Assist with importing trial balances for non-integrated practices into the corporate general ledger.
  • Maintain effective internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the external audit by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
  • Participate in integration of acquired companies into accounting function.
  • Support process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to streamline accounting operations, as required.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful as an Accountant at People Corporation, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • In the early stages of obtaining a CPA designation, or ready to enroll in the CPA program.
  • Relevant accounting experience, with specific experience in month-end close processes.
  • Work experience with a major accounting firm would be considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency in using Workday considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate financial data.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Acquisition and integration experience would be considered an asset.
