General Purpose
The Maplewoods Centre is a unique teaching and clinical training hub that brings together the Relational and Psychotherapy Training Program (RPTP) and Clinical Child Adolescent Psychology (CCAP). Through this collaborative model, the Centre provides high-quality counselling services to individuals, couples, and families in Guelph and the surrounding communities while serving as a premier clinical training site for graduate students. The Centre supports more than 700 clients annually and provides intensive supervision and training to therapist-interns pursuing professional registration in psychotherapy and family therapy.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Training, the Clinical Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting the clinical development, professional competency, and ethical practice of therapist-interns within the Relational and Psychotherapy Training Program. The successful candidate will provide clinical supervision, review clinical documentation, contribute to risk management and quality assurance activities, and support the ongoing training and evaluation of graduate student clinicians.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide individual, dyadic, and group clinical supervision to therapist-interns.
Observe and review live and recorded therapy sessions and provide developmental, evaluative, and skills-based feedback.
Support therapist-intern clinical competency development informed by practicum and clinical training experiences.
Conduct timely review of clinical documentation to ensure compliance with professional standards, accreditation requirements, and Maplewoods policies and procedures.
Participate in risk management and quality assurance activities, including emergency on-call consultation for urgent clinical situations.
Provide clinical and ethical consultation to program leadership and supervisory teams as required.
Support orientation activities, training sessions, and ongoing professional development initiatives for therapist-interns.
Participate in supervisor meetings and other program-related meetings.
Foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Contribute to program operations and special initiatives as required, which may include participation in admissions-related activities.
Requirements
Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Family Therapy, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline.
Registered Psychotherapist in good standing and qualified to provide supervision in accordance with the requirements of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
Registered Marriage and Family Therapist at the Supervisor Mentor, Supervisor, or Supervisor Qualifying level.
Minimum three (3) years of experience providing clinical supervision.
Demonstrated expertise in clinical supervision, mental health assessment, risk management, and ethical decision-making.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills, with the ability to support learners in a complex clinical training environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising graduate students, therapist-interns, or early-career practitioners.
Experience working within accredited clinical training programs.
Familiarity with systemic, relational, and collaborative therapeutic approaches.
Experience providing services through both in-person and virtual therapy modalities.
