Your Job

DarkVision, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is looking for a 3D Graphic Artist to play a key role in presenting the results from the world's most advanced acoustic imaging platform. The role will be based out of our head office in North Vancouver and is fully on-site.

Intuitive results and information that are clear and easy to understand for our customers are the cornerstones of our business. Your role will be critical in conveying results and insights visually to our customers and industry-wide. This position will take ownership of a wide range of design and rendering projects from concept to completion, working closely with the product and data teams, as well as with the marketing and sales teams to deliver clear, easy-to-understand visuals, and industry-leading results.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for aesthetics, meticulous attention to detail, and is experienced with conveying complex scientific 3D volumetric or mesh data information visually.

Having the ability or experience to work with industry-standard 3D computer graphics animation software and/or visual effects workflows will put you ahead.

What You Will Do

  • Conceptualize and create visually appealing and brand-consistent designs and visuals for customer deliverables, reports, presentations, and marketing assets
  • Lead and execute creative projects and rendering workflows from initial concept through to final delivery, ensuring alignment with overall brand identity and business goals.
  • Present creative concepts and designs to internal stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind design choices and incorporating feedback as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Sales, and Marketing teams to understand business objectives and create compelling visual solutions that resonate with target audiences.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all creative assets and deliverables, upholding brand guidelines and maintaining high design standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and ensuring all work is delivered on time and within scope.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and software, and proactively apply best practices to elevate the quality of the team's work.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Professional experience as a 3D Computer Graphic Artist, with a portfolio showcasing a wide range of creative 3D graphic projects.
  • Experience in Blender or another 3D animation and rendering software or workflows (3Ds Max, Cinema 4D, Maya, etc.).
  • Proficient in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Figma, and other relevant tools.
  • Experience designing for digital video and static presentation applications.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Proven ability to work with or render 3D volumetric data and/or meshes.
  • Experience working in commercial VFX production environments.
  • Digital Illustration experience.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and self-motivated drive to learn and experiment with new or new-to-you technologies or techniques.
  • Energized by opportunities to contribute new ideas and POVs.
  • Experience in technology, industrial, and/or scientific visualization, plots, or graphics.
  • Graphic design and layout experience (understanding of graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques).
  • Photography, videography, or video editing skills.
  • Basic programming experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.

General Salary Range

For this role, we anticipate paying $80,000 to $100,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
