Make your mark while you grow your career! The Tax Planning & Advisory Manager role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and broad base of tax knowledge and experience. This is a senior role within the team with significant exposure to executive management. In this role, you will advise on income tax planning and strategic tax matters, utilizing your in-depth understanding of Canadian tax law to drive tax-efficient business decisions in compliance with government regulations. Reporting to the Director, Tax, this role will play an integral role in our corporate tax team and make a direct impact on business direction and long-term value creation.
-**Job location:**Calgary, Alberta -**Shift schedule:**5 x 2, 8-hour shifts -**Safety sensitive position:**No -Application deadline: April 1, 2026
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals within the tax planning and advisory team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
- Actively monitor tax legislative changes and assess its impact on the company, proactively developing and implementing tax strategies across the organization
- Lead and provide tax advice on significant corporate tax strategies and projects, including the preparation of formal memorandums, performing complex research and analysis of tax considerations
- Participate in the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives such as internal reorganizations, economic modeling, M&A activities and complex taxation issues
- Provide tax perspective and advice on transactions in context of commercial requirements and limitations, while identifying business improvement opportunities to ensure company transactions are structured appropriately
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration, while liaising with various functions and departments in the organization
- Participate in industry-lead tax advocacy initiatives, and responsible for the international tax function
- Assist with income tax compliance, audits and appeals as needed
What You Bring to the Role:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience working in a corporate tax role or relevant experience (preference given to prior leadership experience)
- Accounting designation (CPA) or Bachelor of Laws with experience in tax planning
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth tax course
- Strong technical experience and tax planning/research skills as they relate to Canadian income tax law (working knowledge of US and International taxation laws considered beneficial but not required)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with regards to income tax reporting and financial accounting
- High level of competence with computer and accounting systems
- Demonstrate strong communication skills, detail oriented, resourceful, demonstrated judgement, influential, strategic thinking and the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
