The salary range for the position of Legal Assistant - General Litigation is $45,000 - $55,000 annually. This position will be located at our St. Catharines Office.
Job Description
The Legal Assistant role supports the day-to-day activities of lawyers within the Litigation practice group. This role is responsible for document preparation and general practice administration, responsible for filing of documentation, data entry and data management, correspondence, and calendar management and emails. This position provides support in the efficient and effective management of the practice including scheduling, and greeting clients etc.

Provides support int he efficient and effective management of the practice including scheduling, greeting clients, file management, documentation management etc.;

Prepares account related documents (i.e., docket entries, billing summaries, accounts, etc.;
-
Facilitates professional communication between lawyer(s), clients and external contracts;
-
Filing documents at various levels of court as required;
-
Prepares, performs other duties as may be assigned and or required from time to time.
Qualifications
-
1-3 years' general litigation experience;
-
Thorough and current knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and Ontario Court Practice Directions;

Demonstrated experience providing administrative support in an environment with a variety of functions;
-
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and risk-assess high volumes of work, responding to shifting priorities as necessary;

Ability to take initiative and demonstrate accountability, flexibility and adaptability;
-
Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written and strong aptitude for attention to detail;

Decisive and able to work with minimal direction / supervision;
-
Organize the work and or schedules of the lawyer as needed to ensure that deadlines are met ensure appropriate follow-ups are done and that clients receive good service. Carry out job functions efficiently and accurately including when under certain tight time frames;

Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness, work independently, be well organized and possesses a strong knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, PCLaw, Excel, and Adobe Pro;

Exceptional attitude and work ethic;

Willingness to assist others voluntarily or as requested in a team environment;

Enjoy working in a large office and busy team environment;

Willingness and ability to support and enhance the Firm's presence and goals.
