Role Summary
The Maintenance Leadis responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of various machinery, tools, and equipment within the facility. This includes managing the Preventative Maintenance program and facility requests for maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Completes and/or schedules daily, weekly, monthly and yearly Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all assigned equipment, tools and machines. Ensures all PM work done by outside vendors is completed per policy. Ensures PM logs/records and documents are kept current and accessible for auditing purposes and internal review by the Safety Department, external auditors and/or Government Officers. Performs minor and major repairs of tools, equipment and machinery. Promotes new methods and tools, equipment intended to improve efficiency in all departments. Educates staff in regards to daily inspections of tools, equipment and machinery. Sets and maintains minimum and maximum stock levels for maintenance supplies. Actively seeks ways to eliminate wasted materials and utilize scrap. Reports all nonconforming equipment to the department supervisor or manager. Arranges the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment. Ensures daily housekeeping is done in assigned area. Maintains exterior building accessibility and appearance by picking up litter; removing ice and snow from walkways and the facility parking lot, applying salt when necessary, coordinating contractors to mow lawns, and cleaning surrounding landscape Completes monthly interior and exterior building inspection schedule. Replenishes and maintains washroom and cleaning supplies as needed, including light bulbs, towel racks, soap dispensers, etc. Responds to staff enquiries (when routed through the correct channels) regarding building and office maintenance in a timely and effective manner, i.e. replacing light bulbs, fixing door locks, windows, etc. Transports materials to disposal area and recycling materials as required. Monitors performance of custodial staff and reports concerns to supervisor. Establishes and maintains relationships with facility contractors, i.e. septic removal, garbage disposal. Performs machining projects as requested/required. Maintains and tests fire exit alarms throughout building. Completes minor plumbing repairs and interior and exterior paint touch-ups. Coordinates annual building maintenance, such as window washing, carpet cleaning, furnace filter replacement, etc. Completes parts runs and other necessary errands when required. Completes assigned work in a timely fashion and to specified requirements. Complies with standards and procedures Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
Qualifications / Requirements
A combination of 5+ years experience in the trade (including welding, fabrication, machining, mechanical systems) and some post-secondary or industry courses in industrial machinery repair or millwrighting Journeyman Machinist, Millwright, or Heavy Equipment Technician Trade Ticket valid for the province of Alberta or a recognized interprovincial equivalent an asset Basic understanding of OH&S production-related codes and regulations Knowledge of safe use of related power and hand tools WHMIS, forklift, bobcat, rigging and overhead crane training required Works well independently and on a team in a fast paced environment Demonstrated regard for safety Solid written and interpersonal communication skills Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills Strong organizational and time-management skills Detail-oriented Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word and Excel) Physically able to carry 20 lbs or more on occasion and/or able to utilize the correct equipment to complete job requirements
Additional Requirements
Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation. Must have CSA approved safety boots
