The Role
Reporting to the VP, Product Development, the Director will lead the Product Intelligence Team within Mackenzie’s Product & Solutions division. The Product Intelligence Team is responsible for delivering product information and insight to a wide cross-section of stakeholders across the organization. The team is accountable to deliver fund insights, marketing collateral, competitive intelligence, and broad perspective on Mackenzie’s funds, in both business and competitive contexts. The team maintains accountability for information flow on the fund products in market, builds and maintains information systems to support that flow, and supports Mackenzie’s product strategy. The Director will lead a group of Product Managers and Associate Product Managers, and act as a coach and development leader on the Product Intelligence team shaping team objectives to achieve business goals. Success is achieved by leveraging several years of experience in a combination of areas, including people management and inspiration, business process automation, stakeholder engagement and organizing various technological tools to achieve and advance business outcomes. Naturally hard-working and takes pride in producing excellent work, the ideal candidate seeks continuous improvement and has aptitudes for leading and motivating people as well as specific business expertise that help drive for overall division results. Key drivers of success include:
Team Management
- Oversee and direct the daily activities of Product Intelligence Team including but not limited to performance management, goal setting, job evaluations, developing and mentor team members, ensure proper sales coverage while managing group culture to ensure a cohesive and motivated team atmosphere
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development strategies to achieve overall team effectiveness and division goals.
- Develops individualized / customized coaching plans and offers advice on selling style approach when needed.
- People leadership, including coaching, hiring, performance management, compensation recommendations, training, and career development.
Team Productivity
- Develop, maintain, and improve scalable team processes to make the most of team resources in Product Management cycle.
- Manages continuous improvement activities of the Product Intelligence Team, identifying opportunities to improve performance through ongoing productivity enhancements via automations and AI.
- Motivate creation of new analytical tools and frameworks to improve business intelligence and decision making.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Encourage and support collaboration with client-facing colleagues.
- Work with key Retail and Institutional Distribution stakeholders across the organization to improve product information flow to enhance the sales support process.
- Interact with senior management, developing and delivering regular performance reports and opportunities for improving collaboration.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
- The ideal candidate will have at least 7-10 years of relevant technical leadership
- Creative thinker with the ability to exercise sound judgment in responding to questions and making decisions
- Team Player who works cooperatively with the Product, Sales and Marketing teams and other relevant areas to meet our business needs
- Strong investment knowledge of capital markets and asset management, insofar as to aide coaching of technical staff – normally achieved through completion of a university degree in business, economics, finance, or similar
- Skill to manage multiple constituent relationships within the organization
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills and product knowledge
- Must be a self-starter who is achievement-oriented, motivated and has proven problem-solving skills in a client service role coupled with creative solutions

The Role
