Position Summary
NanoVation Therapeutics (NVTx) is looking for a collaborative and scientifically grounded Senior Manager, Business Development to join our team.
Reporting to the VP, Business Development, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing new partnerships. You will work closely across business and technical teams, leading partner engagement, developing high-quality proposals, and enabling smooth progression from initial discussions to contracted collaborations.
Our ideal candidate brings a strong combination of scientific expertise and industry business development experience, enabling them to clearly communicate our value proposition and the unique competitive advantages of our LNP platform to partners. You are flexible, proactive, and highly organized - someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys contributing across a diverse range of initiatives.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Partner Identification
- Monitor competitive landscape and identify potential partnership opportunities for targeted outreach.
- Represent NanoVation at scientific conferences, partnering meetings, and networking events to source and cultivate leads.
- Manage and qualify inbound partnering requests.
Partner Engagement and Relationship Management
- Lead and coordinate meetings with prospective partners, ensuring clear agendas, follow-ups, and next steps.
- Prepare tailored materials for partner discussions.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships through timely communication and scientific and strategic insight.
- Clearly communicate our value proposition, competitive advantages, and technical capabilities.
- Lead as a point of contact for ongoing partnerships.
- Proactively identify challenges and address them early to strengthen partner relationships.
Contract Development and Negotiation
- Independently review, negotiate, and finalize a range of agreements (e.g., MTAs, CDAs, service contracts), in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate interactions with internal and external legal counsel as needed.
Marketing and Communication
- Conduct market and industry research to inform BD strategy and identify emerging opportunities.
- Analyze competitive and market data to support decision-making.
- Manage and track BD-related travel plans, conference budgets, and follow-up activities.
Proposal Generation
- Engage with prospective partners to understand technical needs and present our capabilities and conceive initial proposals for collaboration.
- Collaborate with internal technical leads to develop project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
- Attend relevant meetings during partner engagement and project initiation.
- Maintain quick, professional responsiveness to build and advance the BD pipeline.
- Continuously improve proposal templates and processes.
Platform Development
- Support the coordination between BD and R&D teams to align platform development and data package requirements with that being requested from the market
- Contribute competitive intelligence insights to inform strategy.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
Education & Experience Required
- PhD with relevant scientific experience complemented by a business degree, or the equivalent education and experience.
- 8-10+ years in business development, sales and proposal development in the biopharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Demonstrated track record in originating, structuring, and closing partnerships, collaborations, or service agreements.
- Technical knowledge related to the development of LNP and RNA technologies, sufficient to effectively represent NanoVation in scientific discussions and to direct and prepare proposals for partners.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to prioritize.
- Strong communication skills both written and oral: Communicates with respectful, honest, open, and objective communication.
