About the role

We are seeking a Director, Network & Security Operations.

Our ideal candidate has a strong technical background combined with strong business acumen and communication skills. This includes experience leading the management, security, and operations of enterprise private and public cloud-based network infrastructures and security products and services. This resource will operate as a senior leader with the ability to influences the business, company strategy, and strives to continually drive improvement and efficiency. You will be responsible to manage the day-to-day service delivery and operations for our private and public cloud network infrastructure and information security systems.

What you will do:

    • Responsible for the service delivery and operations of public and private cloud network infrastructure.
    • Responsible for the service delivery and operations of information security tools and systems.
    • Lead a team of L1 and L2 operations resources – both internal and external managed service providers.
    • Lead incident management, service management, performance management, and problem management functions for the network & security technology domains.
    • Drive automation improvements that will accelerate delivery, increase quality, reduce maintenance, and change fail rates.
    • Collaborate with engineering and architecture to identify, prioritize, and implement and ensure high quality operationalization of new network and security solutions.
    • Build strong and trusted relationships with internal and external partners.
    • Infrastructure hardware and software currency & vulnerability remediation management.
    • Support risk and compliance in accordance with Canadian and global standards. Ensure alignment/adherence to enterprise technology standards, vendor management standards, and risk standards.
    • Focus on continuous learning and professional development.
    • Hold yourself and your team accountable to progress the company’s technology modernization and effectiveness efforts.
    • Identify and invest in opportunities (processes, training, systems) to enhance individual and team effectiveness

What you will bring:

    • Post-secondary degree/diploma in information technology, computer science, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    • Professional certifications in cloud, network and/or security is preferred (CCIE, PCNSE, CISSP, CISM, AZ-500/700, AWS Network/Security Certified, etc.)
    • 7+ years direct experience operating in highly available enterprise infrastructures
    • Strong understanding of network protocols and services as well as means of securing communications
    • Strong understanding of wired and wireless connectivity platforms and protocols
    • Strong understanding of information security solutions and products
    • Ability to adapt to a fast-moving technology landscape and keep pace with the latest thinking and new technologies.
    • Broad knowledge of industry technology and directions, with strong foundational knowledge in network and security domains such as network technologies (LAN/WAN/WLAN, SDWAN, Load Balancers, DNS), Observability technologies, IAM technologies, Data Loss Prevention, Endpoint Detection, Cloud Computing, Automation, IPS/IDS, DDOS, Firewalls, WAF, VPN etc.
    • Versed in a variety of hardware and software manufacturers, and a high degree of comfort and experience in mixed vendor environments e.g. Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, F5, Microsoft, etc.
    • Proven experience as a business-focused, credible leader in a large fast-growing technology company.
    • Drives results and changes processes to improve performance; creates a culture of accountability.
    • Solid understanding of delivery enablement techniques such as automated testing and automated deployments.
    • Familiar with Infrastructure as Code and delivering infrastructure change via DevSecOps pipelines including Terraform and Ansible.
    • Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative business relationships.
    • Able to pivot and quickly change direction in response to changing priorities.
    • Experience coaching and mentoring technical practitioners.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, relationship building skills, and experience working in financial services industry considered an asset
    • You can balance pressure to deliver with the need to deliver a secure, resilient platforms
    • You are a systems thinker, an effective communicator, and can find the balance between when to be tactical vs. strategic.

The base salary for this position is between $92,100.00 - $170,500.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
