About the Role
The Investment Risk group at OPTrust provides independent oversight as a “second line of defense” to protect the organization from undue loss. We are responsible for measuring, managing and reporting investment risks associated with the investment of the assets of the OPSEU Pension Plan. Investment risk includes market risk, credit risk, counterparty risk and liquidity risk. A challenging and excellent learning opportunity awaits an enthusiastic co-op student for the position of Investment Risk Assistant. Training will be provided on OPTrust procedures, systems and work processes. Students will also participate in OPTrust’s orientation and campus program.
The MFRM Industry Project co-op position is an opportunity for students enrolled in the Master of Financial Risk Management program at Rotman – University of Toronto to tackle a real issue that is relevant and of interest to them and to OPTrust.
What You’ll Do
- You will contribute to specific duties as assigned through this project.
- Details will be discussed at the interview phase.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Enrolled in the MFRM program at the University of Toronto.
- Computer skills including VBA, Python, R or Matlab.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conduct independent research using traditional and alternative resources to produce reports.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.
- Organizational skills to manage priorities in a deadline driven environment.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
