As a Senior Leader, Service Design with Calgary Transit (CT) you will oversee over 100 employees across four sections: Service Planning, Service Scheduling Public Transit, Revenue Streams and Transit Service Analytics that design fixed-route transit, On Demand Transit service, Mobility as a Service, customer technologies, customer sentiment and ridership monitoring. You will be responsible for long-range strategic plans, capital prioritization and regional transit plans. Primary duties include:

  • Hire, train, develop, mentor and supervise staff including developing goals and objectives, monitoring performance and providing feedback.
  • Ensure the development, planning and scheduling of transit service as it aligns to the goals and objectives within the RouteAhead 30-year strategy.
  • Align the development of Light Rail Transit (LRT)/Bus service with multi-year budget cycles to ensure forecasting of service revenues, exceeding $150 million a year.
  • Coordinate transit service (route planning, scheduling, fleet and operating budget) including new processes, resources and initiatives.
  • Manage fare policy, fare payment, legal agreements with vendors, agreements for transit subsidies/discounts and innovative legal/technological approaches to fare payment.
  • Oversee non-fare revenue contracts and digital displays, such as advertising.
  • Develop service design concepts to address emerging issues.
  • Address inquiries, resource constraints, corporate issues management and budgetary items.
  • Act as a representative of Calgary Transit as it relates to service proposals, land use plans, community plans, street and sidewalk designs and bus zone/station concepts prepared by external consultants for development submissions.
  • Evaluate and prioritize operational improvement projects using cost/benefit risk analyses.
  • Lead procurement of service contracts and decisions for Calgary Transit Access service delivery strategies.
  • Lead, write, present and act as a public spokesperson for reports to City Council and Council Committees.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business, Engineering, Planning or a related field and at least 10 years of experience in leadership.
  • Experience in public sector budgeting, planning, citizen engagement, project evaluation and/or design decisions is required.
  • A master's degree would be preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Previous experience in a role with exposure to high levels of engagement from internal and external interested parties.
  • Ability to direct staff, consultants and contractors while providing high-level vision and detailed direction with respect to time, quality and financial trade-offs.

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
