Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Full Stage Driver’s Licence.

  • Must be able to occasionally work in the field which includes working around roadway traffic.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Completion of a Civil Technologist Diploma or Civil Technician Certificate or the MB Infrastructure Department Level 2 Survey Training Course, Design 3, Design Management. A suitable combination of education and experience and/or training may be considered.
  • Experience in preliminary and roadway construction survey practices.
  • Experience with drafting related software including but not limited to MicroStation, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Desired:

  • Experience in permit application process or utility review.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to generate records and reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software package (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to display initiative and independently resolve recurring issues using standardized rules and procedures.

Duties:

The Planning Support Technician reports to the Regional Planning Technologist and operates in a highly technical environment that requires specialized expertise. This role provides regional support in several key areas, including environmental issues, utility reviews, agreements and relocations, access and structural permit process, maintenance of the regional plan filing system, right-of-way and property matters, and support for construction projects.
