Join us, this is where your career story takes off. WestJet is currently searching for a capable and talented individual for the role of Furnishing Apprentice in our Calgary facility. The Furnishing Apprentice will ensure that the interior appearance and serviceability of WestJet aircrafts are professionally maintained.

  • The ability to make safe / sound decisions, while following documented polices / procedures

What you will do:

  • Assist in fixing interior snags in Boeing 737NG 600, 700, and 800 Series aircraft.
  • Perform aircraft washes.
  • Perform all work assigned in accordance with the instruction and procedures described in the Maintenance Procedures Manual, Procedures & Standards Manual and other approved data.
  • Coordinate with the Stores Department to obtain parts for repairs of interior components.
  • Report any defect that is noted in the course of performing maintenance.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as requested by the Furnishing Technicians, Manager, Base maintenance.
  • Communicate to the AML or Management any performance or operational concerns and work together to rectify in a timely manner.
  • Ensure a safe and tidy work area.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must display adequate knowledge and understanding to management, and base maintenance personnel for the responsibilities associated with this position.
  • Interior maintenance experiences an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the aircraft maintenance manuals, component maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogue aircraft applicability and service bulletin is an asset.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively.
  • Proven team player with ability to build rapport with coworkers.
  • 1-2 years of work experience will be preferred
  • An accredited AMT course is an asset
  • Must be able to obtain an Airport Restricted Area Pass issued by Transport Canada
  • Must be able to get an Airside Driver’s License – which entails having a Driver’s License and a clean driver’s abstract.
