North Vancouver Recreation & Culture is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. We offer a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. This position offers the right person the opportunity to be part of an innovative staff team that makes a true difference in the lives of North Vancouver residents.
ABOUT THE JOB We are currently looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated Summer Camp Leaders for our various summer camps including programs for school-aged children and youth which run fromJune 29-September 4, 2026.
ABOUT YOU You are a team player committed to community. You are courteous and effective with the public and enjoy working with a diverse group of people. You are able to assist in leading a wide variety of programs and activities including sports, arts and crafts, games, and neighborhood walks while working within a team. Playground Leader 1’s work cooperatively with children, their parents, other Camp Leaders, facility staff and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Previous camp experience and/or experience working with groups of children in an organized activity

Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
-
High Five- Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification
-
Preferred candidates will be available Monday to Friday for the duration of Summer 2025

Previous volunteer experience working with children/youth considered an asset
-
Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working in a role with children in a variety of settings such as camps, arts and crafts, dance and sports.

Must be available for paid training on June 20th & 21st.
All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. All candidates must be prepared to work at any of our locations. Candidates must be comfortable swimming or going into swimming pools.
**HOURS OF WORK:**Shifts may vary from 4 hours to 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, depending on availability and program requirements.
**HOURLY RATE:**The pay for this unionized position is $23.19 per hour (2024 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
