Key Responsibilities

Site Technical Supervision

  • Verify that work complies with applicable plans and specifications
  • Perform reinforcement inspections prior to concrete pouring
  • Verify installation of formwork, aggregates, anchors, and reinforcement in accordance with structural details
  • Attend concrete pours, oversee on-site testing, and track non-conformities and required corrective actions
  • Perform visual inspection of steel structures, review laboratory inspection reports, and follow up with contractors as needed

Shop Drawing Review

  • Analyze and validate shop drawings submitted by suppliers and contractors
  • Ensure drawings comply with engineering plans, technical specifications, and project construction tolerances
  • Provide technical comments and coordinate revisions with project teams and subcontractors

Coordination and Negotiation with Contractors

  • Act as the firm’s technical representative with contractors and suppliers on site
  • Participate in site meetings and propose viable, constructible technical solutions
  • Prepare change requests and negotiate compensation claims

Documentation and Communication

  • Produce detailed inspection reports following each site visit
  • Ensure consistent communication with project managers, design engineers, contractors, and clients

Position Requirements

Education and Professional Membership

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural specialization) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in consulting engineering or on construction sites, ideally in reinforced concrete and steel structures

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Quebec structural plans and specifications (NBCC, applicable CSA/ACI/CISC standards)
  • Ability to read and interpret concrete and structural steel drawings
  • Proven experience in structural site supervision for building projects (experience on large-scale projects is an asset)

Assets

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to solve complex technical issues on site
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites
  • ASP Construction card
