Job Description Position Title: Product Designer
Client: BMO Bank of Montreal
Location: Toronto, ON, Canada
Employment Type: 12 Month Contract (with possible extension)
Role Overview The Product Designer works independently, or with oversight from more senior product designers, on product design initiatives that are clearly defined and/or involve a limited number of unknowns. The role requires effective collaboration with cross-functional working teams and business partners to define, design, and deliver high-quality product experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute product design work for initiatives with small to large technical scope, confirming and validating requirements to ensure successful delivery.
- Address design challenges of relatively small scope, proactively asking clarifying questions to ensure all relevant information is obtained before proposing solutions.
- Collaborate closely with business partners to define requirements and expectations for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Design thoughtful, detailed end-to-end product solutions that align with user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- Identify and produce appropriate design deliverables (e.g., flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, prototypes) for each stage of the product development lifecycle.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the full product development lifecycle, including phases, dependencies, and broader organizational context.
- Manage workload effectively across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Maintain awareness of broader organizational goals and context, and design solutions that align with strategic objectives.
- Proactively seek, receive, and incorporate feedback from user research, design peers, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve design outcomes.
- Produce designs with a consistently high level of polish, sophistication, and attention to detail.
- Present work in a clear and confident manner, articulating design decisions, trade-offs, and rationale to team members and stakeholders.
- Share knowledge, skills, and learnings with other team members to elevate overall team capability.
- Provide clear and concise creative direction and feedback to other designers on the team, as required.
- Offer mentorship and guidance within the immediate team, supporting the growth and development of less experienced designers.

Qualifications
- Typically 3 to 6 years of relevant professional experience as a Product Designer, UX/UI Designer, or in a closely related design role.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field of study (e.g., Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Media, or a similar discipline), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
