About The South Huron Hospital Association (SHHA):
We serve the Municipality of South Huron and its adjacent communities—a catchment area of approximately 19,000 residents. The hospital is located in the village of Exeter, approximately 30 minutes north of London, and provides 24/7 emergency services in addition to acute, rehabilitation and complex continuing care inpatient services and various diagnostic and ambulatory services. Our staff also supports family practice and walk-in care at the South Huron Medical Centre. As a small rural hospital, we cherish the relationship we have with our community and pledge uncompromising standards to those we serve.
Position Overview:
Are you interested in growing your nursing skills in a small and welcoming rural hospital? This position will work in our 19 bed Inpatient unit. The successful candidate must be available for shifts of 11.25 hours in length, which may take place on nights, days, and statutory holidays.
Job Duties:
- Applies the nursing process and patient- and family-centred care principles in supporting adult and pediatric patients
- Aligns nursing care with the Code of Conduct and Practice Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Accompanying patients to tertiary care centres as required
- Performs patient registration and switchboard functions after hours
- Performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with SHHA Policies and Procedures
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHHA’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety, infection prevention and control, and participates in regular in-service education in these areas
Requirements:

Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

BScN or equivalent educational achievements.

Recent clinical Nursing experience preferred in medical/surgical/palliative nursing.

Professional development and courses, such as ENPC/PALS are an asset.

Current Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen and immunization status required upon hire.
Experience, Skill and Abilities: (required)
- Demonstrated competence in nursing practice
- 12 lead ECG (cardiac arrhythmia) Interpretation experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan, organize and problem solve
- Demonstrated commitment to Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centred Care
- Ability to work independently, and use critical thinking to solve problems effectively
Immunization Records: Successful candidates must provide evidence of fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work.
