About the role

Cafeteria Worker Gaspereau Valley Elementary School Vacant Position Effective September 1, 2026 6 hours per day  Rate of Pay: As per CUPE Collective Agreement ($20.60)   Closing Date for Applications: Midnight, July 9, 2026 Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.  

    Qualifications and Abilities:

Must have experience in food and menu preparation. Must be organized, neat/tidy and have clean work habits. Must be able to work in a fast-paced atmosphere. Must have knowledge of food and nutrition policy for Nova Scotia Public Schools. Must enjoy working with students. Valid Nova Scotia Operator's License. Must have a current Food Handling Certificate.

Responsibilities:

Cashier, as required. Cooking, baking, and preparation of food. Keeping daily accounts and inventory control. Selling canteen items at recess and noon. Kitchen duties as required in coordination with the cafeteria team (stocking shelves, cleaning, dishes etc.) Support of the school recycling program. Substitute for Head Cafeteria Worker, as required.
