About the role
Acuren is currently recruiting an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support our Engineering Department in Richmond, BC. This is an entry-level, hands-on engineering role ideal for recent engineering graduates or those in the early stages of their EIT program.
- This position will be based out of our Richmond, BC office.
- Hourly range for this role is CA$35.00/Hr. to CA$40.00/Hr. depending on certifications and experience.
- Start date: Janaury or February 2026
Responsibilities Engineering Support
- Assist with engineering analysis and improvements for manufactured components, welded and heat-treated parts, pressure equipment, tanks, valves, pipelines, and other industrial assets.
- Perform field-based engineering work such as hardness testing, chemical analysis, metallography, and other materials testing. Field work may account for up to 50% of the role depending on client needs.
- Support laboratory assessment activities including microscopy, sample preparation, photography, SEM/EDX analysis, and other materials evaluation techniques.
- Contribute to equipment integrity assessments and assist in developing recommendations for serviceability.
- Provide input on materials selection, specifications, and processes for various service environments.
Field Work

Technical Project Participation
- Provide technical support to engineering and inspection projects.
- Lead small-scale site inspections under supervision, collect field evidence, support investigations, and prepare written findings.
- Support efficient project execution by managing time, resources, and deliverables.
Client & Team Support
- Work proactively to understand client needs and ensure expectations are met.
- Participate in discussions with clients to review findings and recommendations.
- Identify opportunities for additional value-added services.
- Contribute to process improvements, including clear reporting and practical engineering recommendations.
Requirements Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Materials, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Corrosion, or Welding focus preferred).
- 0–3 years of hands-on engineering or technical experience. Experience with welding, mechanical repairs, maintenance, inspections, or failure analysis is an asset.
- Eligible for registration with the provincial engineering association (EIT status required).
- Familiarity with materials standards, pressure equipment, or NDT methodologies is considered an asset.
Knowledge & Technical Skills
- Understanding of engineering principles, industrial codes and standards, and materials/welding concepts.
- Ability to apply NDT and inspection results to practical maintenance and equipment integrity recommendations.
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
Other Requirements
- Strong problem-solving ability and practical mindset.
- Ability to manage data effectively and translate findings into clear, actionable reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with OH&S regulations, ISO systems, and company procedures.
- Proficiency with MS Office and a valid Class 5 driver’s license (clean record).
