The Opportunity:

We are recruiting a PROPERTY MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR

  • This is a contract full-time position for 12 months (35 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm). Travel required to agency sites in Guelph, Wellington and KW areas (mileage reimbursed). Home base location is negotiable.

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, the Property Maintenance Coordinator has the following responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day maintenance, minor renovation and repair of all office facilities and housing properties owned by the Association
  • Regular inspection of sites to ensure proper function of building and systems
  • Liaising with and assisting with contractual arrangements including requesting quotes, organizing services and ensuring appropriate invoicing
  • Reviewing and approving facilities spending requests <$500
  • Tracking state of building and equipment, working with Manager of Finance and Facilities to develop maintenance, repair and replacement plans
  • Supporting projects including construction and relocations
  • Serving as a communication link with staff and landlords to ensure appropriate and safe work and living environments

Qualification:

  • Completion of a college or secondary program in related field is usually required. May have complementary experience though apprenticeship program, license, or significant experience working in a related trade (e.g., construction)
  • Knowledge of basic repairs and maintenance
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building and Fire Codes and the Residential Tenancy Act and any other relevant information
  • Knowledge of property management, mechanical systems, contracting, and purchasing
  • Recognized licensing/certification in a trade, e.g. HVAC, electrician is an asset
  • Provides own tools and has knowledge of safe working practices and ability to use a range of tools safely. Some tools will be provided
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations and conflict
  • Ability to make decisions quickly on available information and take action, make commitments, deal with emergencies as necessary
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, able to clearly present verbal information in oral presentations for educational purposes
  • Developed written and verbal communication skill to write and present ideas clearly and concisely ensuring relevant information is documented accurately
  • Demonstrated high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with competing priorities in a fast-paced progressive environment
  • Must be well organized self-directed, set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and must be able to interact patiently, effectively and professionally with staff and physicians
  • Committed to service excellence and client safety

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office programs and technology including internet and intranet
  • Ability to learn and work with a variety of software programs and technology, and their associated upgrades, for various maintenance and daily tasks g. work request system, BAS programs, etc.
  • A valid driver's license, vehicle and insurance as travel is required

COMPENSATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 4 (OPSEU) - $29.00 to $35.21 per hour
