Reporting to the Team Lead Maintenance Planning, the Maintenance Planning Technician is part of the team that helps maintain the asset data for the wastewater treatment (WWT) facilities. In this position, you will provide support and technical assistance to WWT Operations and Maintenance staff and Asset Management Technicians, and coordinate with contractors to ensure preventative maintenance work orders are created, distributed, and addressed. You will also provide support to the Quality Assurance and Integrity Management team to maintain accurate records and perform data validation. Primary duties include:
- Review preventative maintenance (PM) work orders changes received from field personnel, follow up on information, update requested changes in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and reschedule and align dates for PM.
- Assist Asset Management Technicians with revisions to CMMS data fields.
- Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control of existing asset information in the field. Collect and enter missing data and track any changes.
- Review electronic operations and maintenance (O&M) manual submissions for accuracy between the asset in the CMMS and the Content Server links.
- Upload O&M manuals, service reports, and inspection permits in the CMMS and Content Server.
- Conduct visual asset condition assessments and recommend to the Team Lead assets that require further condition assessment or lifecycle replacement.
- Create and analyze reports to support asset management and maintenance planning functions.
- Coach and assist WWT staff in the operation of the CMMS and on accessing information in multiple computer systems.
- Liaise with contractors, send preventive maintenance work orders, receive contractor's service reports and invoices, and create work requests for action items.
- Enter and maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records for all pressure equipment.
- Support the preparation of compliance documentation and accompanying evidence packages as required by regulatory bodies or internal policies.
- Identify and recommend improvements to data collection processes, system usability, and reporting accuracy.
Qualifications
- A completed journeyperson certificate such as Millwright, Electrician, Instrumentation, Welder, or Plumber and at least 5 years of related experience in the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment in a large industrial plant; OR
- A completed 2-year technical diploma in engineering (with a focus on mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil, or asset management) and at least 3 years of related experience as noted above.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle for business use is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Maximo Application Suite (MAS) or another CMMS would be considered assets.
- A good understanding of engineering principles and practices applied in life cycle management of assets such as the planning, design, operation, inspection, and maintenance of industrial plant infrastructure assets.
- Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to understand specialized information and provide recommendations to staff and supervisors.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize and complete tasks.
**Working Conditions:**Office environment with regular site visits to wastewater treatment facilities where use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

**Workstyle:**This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
