Project Supervisor - Transportation Design
This position is located at Regional Headquarters in Whitby.
The Project Supervisor is responsible for managing, overseeing, reviewing, and guiding the design on Regional road, intersection, and storm drainage projects to facilitate and advance the ongoing improvement and expansion of the Region's transportation system.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the incumbent will
Manage, plan, coordinate, make recommendations and oversee the development, and successful completion of in-house Transportation Design (TD) projects Manage technical reviews of TD projects completed by Consulting Engineers retained by the division, and ensuring these projects meet Regional standards, Industry's practices, laws and regulation, and quality expectations Manage coordination with various Works divisions, Planning, Local Area Municipalities, the public, and external agencies Supervise engineering technologists (project designers) to ensure adherence with Regional policies, quality of work best practices, and timely delivery of services Coach, mentor and transfer technical knowledge Represent the division and department on the Region's design standards committees such as Design Standards, Vision Zero, and Climate Resilience Assist in the development of annual business plans and budgets Work in accordance with the provisions of applicable health and safety legislation and all corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety
The successful applicant will possess
A three-year post-secondary Civil Engineering Technology diploma or in a related engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience Registered or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist with OACETT Extensive experience in designing transportation projects Knowledge of engineering design, construction, and operation principles, methods and industry standards related to roadway geometric design, intersection design, utilities, sanitary and storm sewers, storm water management, watermains, arterial roads, traffic signalization, illumination, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, transit stop facilities, streetscaping and traffic noise mitigation Knowledge of the Environmental Assessment Act, Ontario Provincial Standards (OPS), MTO standards and guidelines, Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) guidelines Knowledge and experience with MS Office Applications, and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)Design including topographic surveying and digital terrain model specializations Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and provide guidance to staff A commitment to inclusive dialogue and ensuring diverse voices are heard Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as project planning, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills A valid Class G Ontario Driver's Licence
Management & Exempt Salary Grade 6
- Salary: $109,894 to $137,367 per annum
