Invasive Cardiac Physiologist
About the role
Job Overview The postholder will work as a Healthcare Scientist (Cardiology) in Cardiac Rhythm Management, Angiography and PCI. This is a fixed term contract that will follow a 24-month training program dependent on experience and application. Upon completion / during the postholder will be eligible to apply for a permanent invasive post at the trust as they arise over the 24-month period and post completion.

Clinical Duties
- Care,maintenance,andsafetychecksforallcomplexequipment you use.
- Adheringtodepartmentprotocolsandproceduresfollowingnational guidelines.
- Tocompetentlyundertakehaemodynamicmonitoringduringdiagnosticandinterventional cardiac catheterisation procedures.
- Competentinmanualhandlingskillsforpatientsand equipment.
- Workswithinestablishedprotocols,codesofpracticeandpolicyasa specialist.
- Bethefirstlineresuscitationwithdefibrillatororassistanceintheinsertionofballoonpump and temporary pacing wires.
- Makesphysiciansawareofuntoward events.
- Theabilitytoanalyseandactuponcardiaccatheterisation data.
- Thetechnicalabilitytoprovidesupportserviceprovisionanddecisionmakingduring cardiac device implantation and follow up as an independent practitioner.
- Carriesoutdomiciliaryvisitsas required.
- Prioritisestheirownworkload /caseload.
- Maintainsthedevicedatabasesystemforallimplanted devices.
- Responsiblefortraining,development andsupervisionof studentphysiologistsand junior staff who are undertaking training within the department.
- Isableto carryout,withoutsupervision,andproduceafactualreport onthefollowing: Routine ECG

Person specification QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING Essential criteria
- BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology)/BSc in Clinical physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent
- Registered or eligible for AHCS registration
- Recent relevant experience in 24-hour ECG analysis and ECGs
Essential Criteria KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
- Recent relevant experience in 24-hour ECG analysis and ECGs
Desirable criteria
- Recent relevant experience of Cardiac Catheterisation and Angioplasty
- Recent relevant experience in Cardiac Rhythm Management (Implants and FollowUp)
- Demonstrable experience in Cardiac Rhythm Management and Cardiac Intervention
Essential Criteria COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS (INCLUDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills
- Able to undertake and produce audits
- To work on the invasive on-call rota once competent
- To be flexible and on a rota, basis be able to work bank holidays and weekends
