HIGH SCHOOL LEARNING SERVICES TEACHER (TERM POSITION)
Beginning January 2026
Langley Christian School is accepting applications for a high school Learning Services Teacher to cover a leave. This is a 1.0 FTE term position from January 5 – June 26, 2026.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our collaborative and supportive school team has an opening for a Learning Support Teacher. The Learning Services Teacher maintains an IEP caseload and provides direct and indirect academic and behaviour instruction to students with both high incidence and low incidence designations, working alongside classroom teachers and Educational Assistants to develop student success and independence. The candidate will have a growth mindset and exceptional interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Training and successful classroom teaching experience (5 years+ preferred)
- Valid BC teaching certificate or Independent Schools Teaching Certificate
- Ideal candidate will have training and/or certificate and/or Masters degree in Special Education, or relevant equivalent experience
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- In-depth knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply the BC Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines for Special Education Services.
- Proficiency in analyzing and utilizing various forms of student data to set targets and develop responsive student plans.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with school-based team members and staff to support instruction and interventions for students with disabilities or diverse abilities, including a strong foundation in instructional and assessment practices for all students.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs, progress reporting, and strength-based planning, including student-led IEPs and strategies that foster student independence.
- Demonstrated leadership in coordinating and integrating competency-based support services, with a strong understanding of the renewed BC curriculum, core competencies, and the collaborative development of learning maps.
- Expertise in designing and implementing a continuum of classroom-based instructional services for early intervention.
- Ability to facilitate and actively engage in a professional learning community that fosters innovation, risk-taking, and collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff.
- Excellence in instructional design and assessment across core academic subjects, with a deep understanding of balanced literacy practices and running records.
- Strong knowledge and application of UDL, RTI, and multi-tiered systems of support.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive, respectful, and collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents/guardians, and external consultants within an inclusive school environment, including expertise in EA management and YCW roles across elementary, middle, and secondary school settings.
- Proficiency in implementing and adapting high-tech and low-tech supports.
- Strong problem-solving skills and conflict resolution abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
