FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
PAID-PER-CALL FIREFIGHTER
Salary:$26.87 per hour (Probationary rate) **Hours Commitment:**2-5 hours per week (average)
The Recruit Paid-Per-Call Firefighter is an entry level position in the fire service and no experience is necessary as recruit training will be provided. Paid-Per-Call Firefighters provide an important service to the City of Kenora and are a dedicated part of our composite fire department.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Responding to emergency calls
-
Driving and operating vehicles with discretion, including personal vehicles
-
Following orders through the chain of command from senior department officers
-
Applying proper firefighting techniques needed to control and/or extinguish fires and other emergency situations
-
Attending firefighting training to complete recruit training
-
Following successful recruit training continue to attend regular firefighter training as per departmental requirements
-
Understanding and following department policies and procedures
-
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
High School diploma or equivalent
-
Possess a valid unrestricted Ontario Glass “G” Driver’s License (or equivalent) and be willing to attain a DZ Driver’s License
-
Must be willing to obtain NFPA 1001 within a 1-year period (training provided in-house)
-
Ability to interact with the public in a polite, sympathetic and efficient manner regardless of how stressful the situation
-
Ability to perform duties in an emergency situation under a high level of stress
In addition, successful candidates will be required to submit the following documentation at their own cost:

Completion of a 3-year Driver’s License Abstract deemed satisfactory to the Employer

Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check deemed satisfactory to the Employer

Completion of Medical Health Evaluation
