About the role

The Health & Safety Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating health and safety training programs across Tigercat Industries’ manufacturing operations. This role combines classroom and virtual instruction with hands on training and practical competency assessments to ensure employees understand and can safely apply required procedures, policies, and safe work practices. The Trainer works closely with Health & Safety, Operations, and Supervisors to support regulatory compliance, reduce workplace risk, and strengthen Tigercat’s safety culture.

**Location:**200 Avenue Rd., Cambridge

**Day Shift:**8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Job Duties

  • Develop, update, and maintain health and safety training materials, including presentations, manuals, job aids, and hands on assessment tools
  • Translate legislation, standards, and internal procedures into clear, practical training content appropriate for a manufacturing environment
  • Customize training programs for different roles, tasks, and risk levels across the organization
  • Conduct training needs analyses, ensuring all compulsory compliance needs are met.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of legislative and product changes that are upcoming to proactively begin developing or modifying training programs.
  • Deliver engaging classroom based health and safety training for new hires, contractors, and existing employees
  • Conduct hands on training and demonstrations for equipment, tools, and job specific safe work practices
  • Lead practical, skills based assessments to verify employee competency and understanding
  • Support onboarding, refresher training, and re training following incidents, near misses, or process changes
  • Document training attendance, assessments, and certifications in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Identify training gaps and supporting corrective actions related to incident investigations
  • Act as a visible safety advocate, reinforcing safe behaviors and best practices on the shop floor

Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in presenting information in a clear and engaging manner to both small and large groups
  • Ability to build rapport and work well with diverse groups of people
  • Must be able to adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Effective English communication skills (both written and verbal) with a pleasant and professional attitude
  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with a high level of initiative, resourcefulness and attention to detail
  • Strong organization, time management, teamwork and teambuilding skills
  • Conflict resolution and de escalation skills and comfort addressing resistance or challenging participants
  • Inclusive and culturally responsive facilitation approach

Qualifications

  • Previous experience delivering training to employees in the manufacturing industry, specifically in the areas of WHMIS, Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry and Awareness, Overhead Crane Operator Training, Forklift Operator Training, Hoisting and Rigging, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Ladder Safety, Propane Handling, , Spill Containment, Fire Extinguisher Training, etc.
  • Diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience in Occupational Health & Safety, Training & Development, or a related field
  • Health & Safety certification (e.g., CRSP)
  • Proficient in MS 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Certificate or diploma in Adult Education, Adult Learning, or Teaching Adults
  • Completion of a recognized Train the Trainer or Instructor Program for Forklift and Crane
  • Instructional design or curriculum development training
  • Accessibility training for educators (e.g., AODA compliance in Ontario)
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Reliable transportation and able to travel between Tigercat facilities located in Cambridge, Kitchener, Woodstock, Paris and Brantford
  • Experience with machinery, heavy equipment, or industrial processes an asset
