This position is required to work in person at 3332 Harvester Road, Burlington. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.

Position Overview

This 310T Truck and Coach Mechanic position is responsible for carrying out all repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including urban transit coaches, specialized fleet, and support vehicles in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with approved policies. This position will report to the Manager of Transit Maintenance.

Responsibilities

This 310T Truck and Coach mechanic position is responsible for performing all aspects of maintenance and repairs, including MTO inspections. The Mechanic must provide a complete set of hand tools and toolbox.

Requirements

You must have a valid Class G driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire), and/or no administrative driver license (ADLS) suspensions.

You must also possess a valid 310T Truck and Coach Mechanics Certificate. We will also consider 4th year apprentices who are actively working toward obtaining their 310T licence. You will also need to have the ability in acquiring an Ontario “C” or “B” driver’s licence with “Z” air brake endorsement.

You must be competent in the use of diagnostic tools and can interpret wiring schematics. You can effectively follow written and verbal directions and must be able to submit accurate/legible reports. In addition, you must demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Previous experience in repair and diagnoses of transit coaches, H.V.A.C. systems, electrical multiplex wiring, vehicle computer systems, fuel systems, auxiliary heating systems, ABS brake systems, engines, transmissions and hydraulics systems, welding and fabrication would be an asset.

You will be required to work shifts, including days, afternoons, and weekends.
