The Role

Working within the compliance and licensing team, you will support the consistent application of Cameco’s quality management program (QMP) at its Saskatchewan mining and milling facilities. This role is critical in promoting a safe work environment by thoroughly investigating workplace incidents, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead incident investigations, uncovering root causes and recommending preventative strategies

  • Interview witnesses and subjects; gather and analyze evidence; and prepare detailed investigation reports

  • Determine root causes using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Cause Mapping, or TapRooT

  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions

  • Develop and deliver training to improve investigation processes and timeliness

  • Support continuous improvement of safety, quality, and corrective action processes

Required:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in safety, risk management, or incident investigation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Dependent on need, occasional to frequent travel to Cameco’s various locations

Recommended:

  • Knowledge or experience in the nuclear industry

  • Certification in incident investigation (e.g., Cause Mapping, TapRooT, RCA) is an asset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001)
